Managed to find out what this thread is about now. If this ploy was really
as described in the blog (and even in the Wikipedia article), what on Earth
did they think they were playing at? I can't see how they expected to keep
track of the guns anyway, if they weren't using radio tags. I have to say,
what I hear (in the UK) of US undercover operations, either police or
military (and the distinction doesn't seem too great) very often gives the
impression that their remit is just to play around. Shades of Keystone
Cops.
